Panorama
Nature as a Witness
In the Brazilian Amazons, a long history of economic interests deeply
related to the agribusiness and extractivism - which sees Western
counties as substantial actors - is contrasting the rights of
preservation.
Infractions leave clear signs on the landscape, which are recorded and
can be easily detected by satellites.
1. Irregular ramifications
start from a main
pre-exhisting
road;
2. In the infraction site
there are pathces
of cleared
terrain;
3. Ramifications continues
and meet with other
roads and
logged areas;
4. Often illegal loggers
venture deep in the forest
to
create new routes
before clearing the land.
Roads can bee spotted
as a well-hidden irregularity
against
the green foliage.
At the heart of this invesigative project was to connect the aerial,
with the gound view, the data with the human experiences.
Thanks to the contribution
of Andrè Karipuna,

and the aerial footag
of Fabio Nascimento
we elaborated a short documentary tha could be used as evidence and be
shown as proof during hearings at court.
